FlyDye is the commercial name assigned
to a selected number of synthetic acid
dyestuffs which have a specific affinity
for protein fibers.
The majority of materials utilized by
fly tyers and jig makers for fishing,
such as bucktails, animal furs, and bird
feathers, are of a protein nature. Consequently,
the line of synthetic acid dyestuffs called
FlyDye, when applied to these protein-based
materials, will result in an efficient
range of colors ranging from blacks, grays,
reds, blues, etc., all the way to brilliant
fluorescent pinks, oranges, and yellows.
Now, finally, the home fly-tyer and jig
maker can dye his own material easily,
quickly, and efficiently.
