Orcoacid™ dyes find use in the piece dyeing of wool and worsted goods.  Their inherent excellent leveling properties and wide shade selection make them especially suited to the men’s and women’s wear industry.  These colors are generally applied from a strong acid (pH< 3.5) bath, denoted as Method I below.  Some dyes, such as the Alizarine type, are better applied from a weak acid (pH 3.5 – 6.0) bath as denoted in Method II.

 

Prescour

Prescouring of the wool is necessary in order to remove any impurities in the goods otherwise an unlevel dyeing would result.

Run goods in bath containing 2.0% on weight of goods(owg) Orconol CHSA Conc™ at 140°-160°F for 20 minutes.

 

Dyeing Method I – Strong Acid Bath

• Enter goods in bath at 120°F containing:
  • 4.0% owg         Sulphuric Acid
  • 10.0 % owg     Glauber’s Salt
  • 2.0% owg        Orco Nylosol Leveler ACN™
• Run for 10 minutes.
  • Add X% owg           Orcoacid™  dyes properly prepared
• Bring slowly to the boil and circulate for 1 hour.
• Cool, rinse, & dry.

 

Dyeing Method II – Weak Acid Bath

• Enter goods in bath at 120°F containing:
  • 3.0 – 4.0% owg      Acetic Acid 56%
  • 10.0 % owg             Glauber’s Salt
  • 2.0% owg                Orco Nylosol Leveler ACN™
• Run for 10 minutes.
• Add X% owg                   Orcoacid™ dyes
• Bring slowly to the boil and circulate for 1 hour.
• Cool, rinse, & dry.
