Scouring of polyester is necessary to remove any excess oils, waxes, lubricants, or general soils that may be left in the fiber from manufacturing processes, handling, storage, etc. It is important to scour before dyeing so that all foreign material is removed in order to promote even dye penetration resulting in overall level dyeing of the fabric.
In a bath containing 1-2% owg Anionic Wetting Agent, run goods for 30 minutes at 120-190°F(49-88°C). Rinse well.
For heavily soiled goods, use:
- 2% owg Orconol CHSA Conc™
- 0.2 oz/gal(1.5 g/L) Soda Ash
- 0.5-1.5 oz/gal(3.75-11.25 g/L) Orco Citrisolve DL-AAS-2™
0.2 oz/gal(1.5 g/L) of Caustic Soda may also be used in extreme cases, except for cationic-dyeable(copolymer) polyester as it will degrade the structure of the fiber. Run goods in this bath at 180°F(82°C) for 45 minutes.
