Scouring of polyester is necessary to remove any excess oil, waxes, lubricants, or general soils that might be left in the fiber from manufacturing processes, handling, storage, etc.  It is important to scour before dyeing so that all foreign material is removed in order to promote even dye penetration resulting in overall level dyeing of the fabric.

Pre-Scour

1. Enter goods in bath @ 120°-190°F(49°-88°C) containing 1-2% Anionic Wetting Agent on weight of goods(owg) and run for 30 minutes. Rinse well.
2. For heavily soiled goods, use:

1.0 – 2.0% owg                                        Orconol CHSA Conc™

0.2 oz/gal(1.5 g/L)                                  Soda Ash

0.5 – 1.5 oz/gal(3.75-11.25 g/L)           Orco CitriSolve DL-AAS-2™

3. 3. 2 oz/gal (1.5 g/L) of Caustic Soda may also be used in extreme cases, except for cationic-dyeable(copolymer) polyester as it will degrade the structure of the fiber.
   4. Run goods in this bath at 180°F(82°C) for 45 minutes.
   5. Drop bath and rinse well.
